Wayne Goss Brush #14, Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder

This Nimbus 2000 and the accompanying floo powder has been my setting powder + brush jam for a while now.

If you’re a normal-dry skinned gal like me, I’m sure you can feel my pain here. After adding oodles of liquid highlighter and ‘luminous’ foundation, it is annoying to see a setting powder rob that glow instantly (#firstworldproblems). A setting powder, in my opinion must –

  1. Leave the skin looking satin like, more demi-matte, less cake face. I have to use the most abused phrase in the beauty world – ‘skin-like’! And definitely not powdery.
  2. Extend the wear of my base. I’m not talking crazy sixteen hour wear time, a good eight hours will make me a very happy camper! I’m not asking for the moon, no?

After some relentless google search, I found the Urban Decay ‘Naked Skin’ Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder. It is marketed to be a ‘finishing’ powder, but I can attest to the fact that it ‘sets’ makeup as well. It feels like nothing on the skin, I can’t even find a decent analogy here. This is more finely milled than the best baby powder, and just melts into your skin like butter, this product is magic in a jar!

There are about five shades in all and I wear Medium Dark. These are extremely sheer, so each shade will cater to a wide range of skin tones. Here’s a swatch of Medium Dark.

The powder does its job invisibly – you can’t see it, but you’re left with the blurring, silky-skin like finish that it creates. On days when I don’t feel like using a base of any kind, I just dust this over a nicely hydrating moisturizer just to lift my skin a little bit. To round up all the oohing and aahing, let me add that the product is oil-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free and alcohol-free.

Wayne Goss Brush #14

Wayne Goss’s Brush #14 and the Urban Decay Powder were just meant to be! The brush is loosely packed and picks up just the right amount of product. I dispense a tiny amount onto the lid, swirl the brush in the lid and apply only to the areas that I want to set. The brush is tapered, which is perfect for the under eye area and the T zone. At the risk of sounding frivolous, I have to say that this brush feels extremely soft and luxurious on the skin. It has a lightweight, sleek design and really feels like a mini wand. I wish the price wasn’t so prohibitive, I would’ve ordered ten more! #hoarderalert.

P.S – I’m wearing the UD powder in the pictures in my recent Safe For Work Lipsticks post.
